Flora 1963 painting
2008 limited edition prints available

Jim Flora Art LLC has released a limited-edition, archival-quality fine art print of an uncirculated 1963 Jim Flora tempera painting entitled Back to Bellefontaine. Flora was born in Bellefontaine (pronounced "bell-FOUN-tin"), Logan County, Ohio, in 1914. He lived in the town until 1934, when he enrolled at the Art Academy of Cincinnati.

Produced by Flora archivist Barbara Economon, the prints have been meticulously crafted and painstakingly replicated from the original painting using state-of-the-art digital technology. A high-resolution scan was made of the original art, a tempera painting on paper. All aspects of the original artwork--with Flora's signature at the lower right, and hand-titling (not visible in the above image) at the lower left--have been retained, including minor aging artifacts which in no way detract from the overall impression.

Only twenty-five (25) prints of Back to Bellefontaine were produced for this edition. Each print is numbered in the lower right corner beneath the image and authenticated on the reverse with the stamped seal of Jim Flora Art LLC (a Flora family enterprise). Prints 19/25 thru 25/25 have been sold, and we are now offering numbers 16/25 thru 18/25 for $225 each. Prices will increase for subsequent prints as the edition depletes.

The image area is 13-7/16" high x 20" wide — 25% larger than the original work — on a sheet 17" high x 22" wide. The unframed prints are on heavyweight (310g) mould-made William Turner stock, a natural white, 100% rag paper with a fine toothy surface manufactured by Hahnemühle, who are renowned for premium-grade archival papers. The edition was produced on an Epson 3800Pro large format printer using Epson UltraChrome K3 Pigment Ink Technology, resulting in brilliant, velvety color and offering excellent longevity and durability.

The print will ship flat, securely packaged and guaranteed against bending or dents. Print includes a detailed, custom-printed one-sheet with instructions for the proper care of this fine art reproduction.

Due to the fine art print's higher-resolution process, as well as superior paper, inks, and quality control, the colors in the print appear brighter, crisper, and more vibrant than the online image. Online color appearance may vary slightly depending on your monitor settings.

Back to Bellefontaine has not previously been reproduced or published. The original work is in the Flora family's private collection and is not for sale at this time.
